How to Join
Overview of the Club

The Club
Shoalhaven Bushwalkers Inc. is a bushwalking club based in the beautiful Shoalhaven region on the south coast of New South Wales which is centred in Nowra - approximately 160 kms south of Sydney. The club is a non-political, community group affiliated with Bushwalking NSW. The club has a "live" program (unavailable to the public) of weekend walks, Wednesday walks (the main walking day for most club members) and social events, and also produces an e-newsletter containing various articles, walk reports and photographs.

Images from the club's walks and social activities are posted regularly on our Facebook page which can be accessed by clicking the button at the top of any page or by clicking this link - our Facebook page

We also have a Youtube channel which is occasionally updated with movies taken on our walks as well - see our Youtube channel

Sample Wednesday Walking Program

Grade 1 - Andante
7 mile beach Walk, Gerroa to 7 Mile Beach National Park - 8km
Walk along the beach to 7 Mile Beach National Park for morning tea , then return along the beach to Gerroa for lunch

Grade 3 - on track
Gerroa to Impassible Gulch - 9km
Walk grassy trails and rock platforms to Walkers Beach and the Impassible Gulch. We have options to come back via headlands behind the houses or through the golf course and along the bike path depending on the weather on the day. Meet at Emery Park at Gerroa at 9.30am in time for a coffee before heading off.

Grade 4 - Some off track
Boongan Mountain to Hancocks Creek Road - 16km
A circuit walk, on and off track, above and below Jerrawangala escarpment. Butterbush Trail to the escarpment, views, creeks and waterfalls, out to the rocky tip of Boongan Mountain. Below escarpment, walk through lush vegetation, largely untouched by 2019 bushfires. Scramble back to top of escarpment.

Grade 3 - Multi Day
Sydney Harbour over 3 days - 50km in total
Iconic harbour walks - a circuit, walking from Manly around the harbour to Circular Quay and then on to Watsons Bay.

Grade 4 - Mountain Bikes plus walking
We’ll ride (MTBs needed) the Endrick Fire Trail for 5 or 6 km, leave bikes and head off-track to explore around the Newhaven Creek / Endrick River confluence. Short canyonesque sections, cascades and swimming holes (bring swimmers) with a visit to nearby Battleship Rock.
