Walks Program Change
There has been a slight change to the On-Track Winter walks program, with two walks being swapped. Barbara Liddle's Booderee Explorer walk on June 10th will now happen on July 1st, swapping with Alison Smith's Booderee Whale Watching Circuit walk which moves from July 1st to June 10th.
The Karen Davis whale watching walk on the weekend of June 27/28 has been cancelled due to leader unavailability.
Ettremist now private !
Our newsletter / walks program has been moved to our Members Only area due to some potential members turning up for walks with inadequate gear and no idea of their responsibilities, while others with no intention of joining the club used our walks as free, guided tours. This was a burden our leaders did not need.
Annual Subscription Increase
Due to the rising cost of insurance, our annual membership subscriptions have been increased to $25 per year. Membership for those paying insurance through their membership of other clubs remains at $10 per year.
Car Sharing Cost - until end of August 09
10c per kilometre per passenger, rounded up/down to the nearest 10km and then the nearest dollar.

Death Adder trodden on during a recent walk.

A group in Kangaroo Valley is trying to raise money to install solar lighting in remote villages in East Timor. They are holding a "Trek for Timor" challenge on 19th September - a 50km walk in 24 hours through scenic country around Kangaroo Valley. Cost is $25 per person or $100 maximum for a team of at least 4. Teams are encouraged to try to raise at least $600 towards the group's $30,000 target. The website for the event, which has all the relevant details, is www.kvrp.org.au.

June 1 - added a page describing how to use Picasa to edit and upload your photographs to the web. Look under Images / Using Picasa.
May 15 - added a link under Reports to an excellent, recommended publication called Communications for Bushwalkers which explains everything a bushwalker needs to know about PLBs, mobile phones, CB radios, satellite phones, tracking systems and calling 000. Click here for the report.
